SHOCK TACTICS: THE DRIVING FORCE BEHIND ROAD SAFETY ADVERTISING

My dissertation is finally finished! Here are the visual pieces to accompany my written work.
The commercial itself approaches the issue of road safety (and in particular drink driving) from a humorous perspective. This decision has been taken after carrying out extensive reseacrch on both the history of road safety and the advertising that accompanies it.

Linha De Passe

A grueling insight into a small section of these characters lives. Beautifully shot and eleqently told. This is real life and life is what you make it, and the important thing is that life goes on. The events shown are not overly extreme, instead the film shows the undulating aspects of life, and how a good thing is often tainted with unforseen problems. The inter-connection between the brothers lives is cleverly linked, with the viewer being forced to keep thinking. The cinematography is amazing. The colours contained within the city are breathtaking and the lack of lighting in some shots really adds to the tension. The camera work in scenes with the football and when focusing on close-ups of the characters, fits the mood perfectly.
This is an absolute must see.

Sound Equipment

I recently bought a Behringer Xenyx 2222fx mixer to connect to my MPC 2500, so that i could have my recordings running through the EQ and add effects before being recorded into Logic Pro, where i can then further distort the sounds if needed. On top of this i decided to buy an old reel-to-reel Akai GX 4000D tape recorder to record onto and play back through etc... My sound set-up is now almost complete, next stop: Midi keyboard and then probably a nice mic...

The Dark Knight

Ok, so this is obviously meant to be epic but having watched it twice now, i think it is average. Yes, Heath Ledger (R.I.P) is amazing and indeed makes the film but without him it would be nothing. Christian Bale plays the same role he always does, and his voice is so over the top, it annoyed me everytime he spoke. Look past the nice effects and it must be said, some very nice imagery and the character developement is poor and the storline is more of a series of escalating events that lead to nothing and bear little consequence, rather than a well thought-out plot. Still, it should still be watched. (probably at the imax)

A beautifully shot, very disturbing film. The acting is impeccible. With dark undertones throughout, it is more a matter of when rather than if...
Despite the shocking the content, it is essentially a story of lost love, repression and resentment.
